The Redeemer Monastery of St. Jacob was built in 17-19 centuries. Behind the stone wall with towers (early 19 century) you can find Church of the Conception and Church of St. Demetrius, “the magnificent monument of Russian classicism” (1801).
The Monastery of St. Avramy is the most ancient monastery of Russia. It is dated early 11 century. The main attraction is the Epiphany Cathedral (1554).
