Ples is a small town on the bank of the Volga River, which retains more than 800 years of its history. Two-kilometer-long embankment, built with manors of 18-19 centuries in provincial classicism style attracts to stroll along. There’s a Museum of Landscape picture and House Museum of the great Russian artist I.I. Levitan, who painted in Ples more than 200 of his pictures and sketches.
