Description: The Zoological Museum is one of the oldest museums in the city. It was part of the Kunstkammer museum, opened in 1714 by the order of Peter I. In 1832 the Zoological museum was separated from the Kunstkammer. Today the collection of the museum numbers about 40.000 samples of wild life and about 15 million samples of fauna.
Main attractions: Different kinds of animals, including rare species that are registered in the Red book, on the edge of extinction or that were annihilated during the last 300 years are exhibited here.
The famous staffed mammoth of Berezovo. Huge and well preserved, this mammoth remained frozen for 40 thousand years and was discovered in Siberia in 1900.
